While we love our Napa Valley partners and they do an amazingly large amount of god with their annual Premiere Napa Valley Auction, they just can’t do it as big as we do it in Texas.
Over the weekend at the 2011 Houston Livestock and Rodeo Show Wine Auction, one 9 liter bottle of 2006 Alexander Valley Cyrus fetched a whopping $210,000! That’s the equivalent of $17,500 per bottle, roughly 8 ½ times what the highest bid was per bottle last month in Napa.
It’s all with friendly competitive cheer, as the proceeds in both auctions go to charitable causes.
But a big giant “Yee-Haw” to the generous folks in Texas for stepping up to the plate and slamming the Big One over the fence!
